Folks, let’s face it…braces are no fun. It’s a painful process for both kids and parents (physically and financially.) If you are planning on installing some flashy mouth gear, consider your students’s audition schedule. Don’t let years of patient practice go down the tubes because of an orthodontist appointment the week before District/All-State auditions. Summer break is the best time to embrace the new smile and learn the new embouchure! You have time to work things out in private lessons–
“Ow–it’s cutting my lip! What do I do?”
“Why do I sound so airy?”
“Wax?…No wax?”
“Oops, another chipped reed!”
(So expensive for those oboe kids!!!)
Think ahead and it will save you in dollars and tears! ?
