Jumping right into a marathon/dance class/high impact aerobics? Let’s just say that’s not the best idea. Injuries to the muscles abound when they are thrown into such a strenuous situation. Warming up your muscles is the solution! And, that goes for your practice sessions too! It’s easy to pick up your instrument and head for the music stand, but rather than getting right into that technical etude, work on a sonority exercise first. Developing your tone, and warming up those fine muscles for controlling the air stream is essential to a good practice session. Here’s an exercise by Paul Davies for you to try!
Happy Practicing!
